Figurative Vs. Literal Language

The work we have done on the difference between these two types of language.

We began our creative writing unit by exploring the difference between figurative and literal language.

The notes from our class whiteboard.

We walked this through using the simple setting of the your bedrooms.

First, I asked you to describe your bedroom using only literal language.

We then talked about some of the common language features you use when describing something figuratively. They were:
Personification
Metaphor
Simile

After this, I asked you to describe your bedroom using figurative language and phrases.
